The pickle...??

Nearly missed this pickle at a corporate lunch recently - thought it was just a wet patch in the sandwich packaging, but it was a pickle. They wrap the sandwich in 2 layers of paper, and the pickle is between the inner paper and the outward paper.
I was intrigued, so I looked it up on the internet, and apparently it was brought to New York City by Jewish deli owners where it was used as a palate cleanser, and the whole thing just got taken up every where. It is a very good palate cleanser too!
